UNICEF starts a relief program for children of Beslan

NORTH OSSETIA, October 12, Caucasus Times – The United Nations Children’s Fund is about to begin a relief program to rehabilitate the children who had suffered in recent deadly hostage taking at the Beslan school.

The aid program is intended for seven thousand schoolchildren in Beslan, not only those who was among the hostages, the executive director of Children’s Fund Carol Bellamy on her arrival in North Ossetia said in an interview with Caucasus Times correspondent.

Mrs. Bellamy has been visiting several schools in Beslan, the memorial cemetery, the republic’s rehabilitation center for children..

The UN organization has allocated emergency financial aid at $293.000, paid for equipments for hospitals and schools in Vladykavkaz and Beslan.
