Two sportsmen from Adygea go to Olympics
ADYGEA, August 13, Caucasus Times, – Two athletes from the republic went to Athens as members of Russian Olympic team. Anatoly Aliphirenko and Khasanbi Tahov will represent Russia in target shooting and judo, said the chairman of the republic Committee of physical culture, sports and youth Goumer Kostokov in his interview with Caucasus Times correspondent
This is the first time the Adyghe wrestler Khasambi is participating in the Olympic competition, while Anatoly is a known master in target shooting. The latter has had a gold medal in Sydney Olympics and the World Cup. He is the champion of many tournaments in Russia.
Noteworthy, after he won gold medal in late Olympic Games the authorities promised to construct a new shooting gallery in Maykop but it has not been built as yet. So, the 48-year-old Olympic champion had to practice in an old ramshackle building without the roof.
