DAGESTAN, October 27, Caucasus Times – Two arms dealers were reportedly arrested by police in Hasavyurt of Dagestan yesterday while pushing high explosives at least 119 lb of TNT, the regional Interior Ministry said in an interview with Caucasus Times correspondent.
The republic’s law enforcement agency fighting organized crime managed to track down two arms dealers, pretending to be the Chechens who wanted to buy ammunition. They had a deal in a car in one of the streets of Hasavyurt. When the “buyers” handed over marked banknotes to the dealers and got out of the car with two bags of explosives a police squad waiting in ambush jumped on the dealers and seized them.
The law-enforcement agencies declined to name the criminals, as the police will attempt to trace down a net of organized arms dealers in the republic.
