The region joint operational groups to be established to coordinate counterterrorism in the North Caucasus

North Caucasus operational groups will be established to coordinate counterterrorism in the region, said Russia’s Interior Ministry Rashid Nurgaliyev meeting today with President Putin in Moscow.

According to his plan approved by Russian President the join operation groups established in all 13 administrative territories of the North Caucasus will be coordinating all federal “power structures” in anti-terror campaign to prevent threats of possible attacks Chechen militants may be planning.

The official was quoted as saying the joint command group would have in its immediate subordination the forces and agents of regional branches of Federal Security Service, Defense Ministry, Interior Ministry and Emergency Situations Ministry as well as Interior Ministry special task forces in every territory and republic of the North Caucasus.”
