Security measures tightened in Ingushetia

INGUSHETIA, August 18, Caucasus Times – The republic law enforcement agencies have tightened security measures and threat alert elevated before upcoming presidential election in Chechnya, said the Interior Ministry in interview with Caucasus Times correspondent today.

According to the ministry officials regular and special task police together with Russian army units conduct preventive measures in the republic to thwart any attacks that may be planning before and during the vote in the neighboring republic.

For that, the joint patrols have been stationed on all strategic points, highways of the republic. At nights the units patrol the streets in the capital and elsewhere in Ingushetia.

The task patrols thoroughly check all vehicles and passengers. The law-enforcement agencies have tightened security measures to uphold security of official institutions and vulnerable points in the republic. On the administrative border of Ingushetia frontier posts have been reinforced
