Public Council established in Russia’s Karachay-Cherkessia

KARACHAY-CHERKESSIA, 17 April, Caucasus Times – President of Karachay-Cherkessia Mustafa Batdyyev has signed a decree on establishing the Public Council of the republic.

The following will be the main functions of the Public Council: putting forward and supporting important initiatives for the republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, delivering an expert conclusion on draft laws, coordinating the work of NGOs, organizing cooperation between the authorities and the public to tackle social and economic issues and protect human rights, the press service of the president of Karachay-Cherkessia has told the Caucasus Times.

The Public Council of the republic of Karachay-Cherkessia is a consultative nonprofit organization. It will include 18 people appointed by the president of Karachay-Cherkessia, Mustafa Batdyyev, and 18 representatives of NGOs elected at town and district conferences.
