Police encounters militants at Czech humanitarian office, finds weapons and printing office

PRAGUE, December 22, Caucasus Times – An insurgents’ underground was tracked down in a sweep conducted yesterday by Chechen special task police, the Interior Ministry said in an interview with Caucasus Times correspondent. The tactical police squad encountered fierce resistance of several insurgents as the officers attempted to search the office of Czech NGO People in Need (PIN). In a firefight Tsakayev, 23-year-old leader of a group was killed, other militants were seized, a source in the Interior Ministry was quoted as saying. Several police were reported injured in the storm.

The law enforcement officers combed the office and discovered weapons, ammunition, phony documents of Chechen police officers and other evidence.

As of now, the arrested insurgents are being interrogated at a police station..

The incident appeared to be “absolutely unrespectable for us,” the Prague Watchdog quoted Mareck Vozky, the head of the mission in the North Caucasus as saying.

There are 120 employees, largely locals, who work for the mission.
Earlier reports said the police detained an employee of the humanitarian organization, who allegedly participated in terrorist actions.
