Mukhu Aliev became a first President of Dagestan

DAGESTAN, 20 February, Caucasus Times. On Monday, People’s Assembly of Dagestan elected Mukhu Aliev the President of Dagestan. 99 members of Dagestani Parliament voted for Mukhu Aliev as a President of the republic; one deputy voted against Aliev.

Mukhu Aliev, who was a Chairman of the People’s Assembly of Dagestan until this Monday, was nominated for the position of the Head of Dagestan by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Mukhu Aliev was born on 6 August 1940 in the village of Tanusi in Khunzakh district of Dagestan. He graduated with distinction from Dagestani State University in 1962. From 1962 until 1964 he was working in Tsumadin district of Dagestan as a Deputy Director of a secondary school and later on as a Director of school.

In 1964-1966 M. Aliev was working as a Secretary of Young Communist League Committee in Dagestan State University. In 1969-1972 he was working as a First Secretary of Young Communist Leage Committee in Makhachkala. In 1972-1985 Aliev was working in a capacity of the First Secretary of Soviet District Committee of CPSU in Makhachkala. In 1985-1990 he was a Head of Personnel and Organizational Department of Dagestani Regional Committee of CPSU. In 1990-1991 Aliev was working as the First Secretary of Dagestani Regional Committee of CPSU.

From 1995 until this Monday Aliev was a Chairman of the People’s Assembly of Dagestan. He is married and has two children. Aliev is a holder of the Orders “For Services to Motherland”, “Labour Red Banner” and “Sign of Honour” as well as of several medals.
