Mufti in Russian south condemns TV sex shop ads

KARACHAY-CHERKESSIA, 19 September, Caucasus Times – Ismail Berdiyev, chairman of the coordinating council of Muslims of the North Caucasus and mufti of Karachay-Cherkessia and Stavropol Territory, has called on the media not to advertise sex shops during the holy Muslim month of Ramadan [Id al-Fitr].

He expressed his indignation at the active advertisement of the republic’s only sex shop “Klubnichka” on local TV.

“At a time when people must be thinking about holy things, preparing for Ramadan and purifying themselves from everything filthy, the media are actively propagating lascivious fun. Believers should be fasting and praying during the holy month of Ramadan. Besides, all actions of a true Muslim during Uraza [Id al-Fitr] must be aimed exclusively at the good,”
Berdiyev said.

He also recommended that the authorities of the republic and the town of Cherkessk pay attention to this shop and take measures to close it down.

We should recall that the holy Muslim month of Ramadan starts on 24 September. The Uraza fast starts on the same day, and all true believing Muslims must observe it.
