More than 30 tons of contraband meat from Georgia was detained in Vladikavkaz

NORTH OSETIA, 7 March, Caucasus Times. 32 tons of contraband meat of unidentified origin from Georgia was detained in North Ossetia. Sources in the North Osetian Customs Office told CaucasusTimes correspondent that customs officials at Verhnii Lars custom-office detained “MAZ” lorry. Driver of the lorry claimed that he was transporting 66 tons of apples from Georhia to Russia. However, during the examination of the lorry customs officials and members of the republican office of the Russian Federal Security Service discovered 32 tons of meat packed in briquettes of unidentified origin. In the words of the customs offcilials load did not have any documentation.

Driver of the lorry – resident of North Osetia was detained. Law enforcement agencies are currently trying to identify the real owner of the load.
