Krasnodar city parliament proposes early mayoral elections

KRASNODAR TERRITORY, 30 December, Caucasus Times – Members of the Krasnodar City Duma have proposed holding early elections of the head of the city administration, the Caucasus Times has learnt from the city administration.
The proposal was put forward in a written appeal from the Duma members to the head of the Krasnodar city administration, Nikolay Priz.

In the appeal, the Duma members proposed reducing the mayor’s term in office by nine months and 14 days and holding the elections on 14 March 2004 in order for the Krasnodar mayoral elections to coincide with the Russian presidential elections and gubernatorial elections in Krasnodar Territory.

The Duma members explained the proposal by their desire to reduce state budget expenditure on election campaigns.
