European parliament officials arrive in Ingushetia

INGUSHETIA, August 31, Caucasus Times – PACE delegates Tadeush Ivinsky and Andreas Gross visiting the region came to Ingushetia to have meetings with local authorities to focus on refugees’ problems, press service of Ingushetia’s President said in interview with Caucasus Times correspondent, August 31.

The executive officials visit Ingushetia to inspect the temporary settlements of internally displaced persons from Chechnya territory of Ingushetia, finding a solution to encourage their return to Chechnya.

PACE delegation members have met with President Ziazikov in Magas, yesterday’s morning to discuss in detail refugee problems the republic had been facing. Russian State Duma, Interior Ministry and local government officials attended the meeting.

The European guests will be visiting several places in Ingushetia where Chechen residents temporarily live to report the situation at Parliament session to be held this autumn in Strasbourg.
