Electoral commission of Ingushetia finds errors in electoral registers

INGUSHETIA, August 11, Caucasus Times – The employees of Republic Electoral commission have detected errors in the electoral registers while verifying the database of district electoral committees, said the electoral commission of Ingushetia in an interview with CT correspondent.

The commission confirmed the number of eligible voters in the database did not correspond to that of the registered citizens in several districts.

“We have started checking the databases of local electoral commissions in a campaign to reduce voting fraud and other forms of electoral abuse, the commission officials said. The measures conducted in several districts of the republic have proved scores of errors in registering potential voters. Recently, we have found at least 400 eligible voters in Troitskaya village of Sunzhensky district who unreasonably were not registered in the electoral registers. Besides, some residents, displaced persons, who would be willing to vote but do not have local registration and as such are not included in the list, the electoral commission said, adding the electoral abuses should be cut down by the end of this year.
