INGUSHETIA, September 16, Caucasus Times – The death toll stood at 5 killed and 30 others wounded in a suicide-bombing of the regional FSB office building in Magas, Ingushetia, the Caucaus Time correspondent reports citing the regional Interior Ministry official Murad Zurabov. As for now one injured unnamed victim of the bombing has reportedly died in the local hospital.
According to the police an explosives laden ‘GAZ’ truck driven by two suicide-bombers smashed through the fences into the office of the FSB and was blown up leaving a two-meter wide crater. The truck reportedly came from Ali-Yurt village.
The FSB office and nearby buildings were considerably damaged by the explosion. The blast blew in windows in offices close by.
As the explosives experts said the charge of the bomb was about 1 ton (2000 pounds) of TNT equivalent.
Two killed victims appeared to be FSB agents sent to Ingushetia from Piyatigorsk. Two top FSB officers have been reportedly suffered shrapnel injuries. Five more agents, including a woman, were delivered to Ingushetia hospital with grave wounds.
The regional Prosecutor’s Office opened a terrorism case, the investigation is being conducted. The police and FSB investigators are in pursuit of suspects who masterminded the bombing. They are also eager to know how the laden truck drivers managed to approach the fence and well fortified building.
