Dagestan and Chechnya administrative borders sealed off

DAGESTAN, September 29, Caucasus Times – Since Wednesday the administrative borders of Dagestan and Chechnya have been temporarily sealed off.

The preventive measure was undertaken due to military operation in Nozhai-Yurtovsky district of Chechnya being carried out by federal forces and Chechen task police to root out a large group of separatists, Caucasus Times quoted Dagestan’s Interior Ministry officials as saying. Since the combat was taking place on the territory adjacent to Dagestan border the Interior Ministry of the republic did not rule out the dispersed militant groups might have attempted to infiltrate the republic.

The personnel of police stations at the frontier had been on the round-the-clock duty, the Dagestan Interior Minister department Col. Mohamed Mohamedov said.
