Communists allowed to run for parliament in Russia’s Dagestan
DAGESTAN, 29 January, Caucasus Times: The Communist Party has been allowed to run for Dagestan’s People’s Assembly. The party was earlier barred from standing for parliament.
The board of the Dagestani Supreme Court today ruled that five candidates from the [Dagestani branch of the] Communist Party of the Russian Federation had the right to contest the election.
The candidates had earlier expressed their intention not to run, whereas they later said that they were going to stand for parliament.
