Arms, explosives found in Russia’s North Caucasus

PRAGUE, 7 November, Caucasus Times – An arms cache was found on the outskirts of the village of Nikolayevskaya in Chechnya’s Naurskiy District on 5 November, the website said. The cache contained two anti-tank mines, a VOG-17 missile and two F-1 grenades. According to police information, the arms belonged to a member of the rebel underground, Dagalayev, who died in a car accident in 2002, the Caucasus Times said.

In a separate report the website said that a cache with arms and explosives was found in a forest in Kabarda-Balkaria’s Cherekskiy District on 5 November. The cache contained 100 7.62-mm cartridges, an electric fuse, a radio, medicines and foodstuffs, an improvised grenade and two improvised explosive devices made of plastic boxes filled, supposedly, with ammonium nitrate and aluminium powder, the report said.
