Arms cache found in Chechnya

CHECHNYA, 18 January, Caucasus Times: Khampash B., 33, who was wanted by the federal law-enforcement agencies for committing an offence qualified as a crime by Article 246 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code (violation of the environmental regulations), has been detained in the village of Naberezhnoye in Groznenskiy District, the joint press centre of the operational headquarters of the Russian Interior Ministry in Chechnya has told our correspondent.

A large cache of weapons and ammunition has been found in Gudermes. Police seized a RPQ-7 grenade launcher, two RPQ-18 grenade launchers, a Kalashnikov assault rifle and 50 cartridges, a machine-gun belt, a TM-57 mine, two F-1 grenades, four RQD grenades and 14 improvised “khattabka” grenades with detonators in a pit in the bushes at the town cemetery and handed the weapons over to the duty unit of the Interior Ministry
directorate.

In all, 22 crimes were recorded and 18 crimes were solved in the past 24 hours.
