All candidates who are going to participate in the election of the Mayor of Cherkessk have been registered

KARACHAEVO-CHERKESSIA, 6 February, Caucasus Times. Municipal Election Committee of Cherkessk in Karachaevo-Cherkessia has completed the process of registering the candidates for election of the Mayor of Cherkessk. According to Interfax, this information was released by the representative of the city Election Committee on Monday.

In the words of the representative of the city Election Committee, all necessary personal information submitted by the candidates has been checked and no violations have been identified. All eight candidates who are going to participate in the election have been registered.

Speaker of Karachaevo-Cherkessian parliament Sergei Smorodin, supported by the republican branch of “Unified Russia”, former city mayor Mikhail Yakush, supported by the regional branch of the Communist Party, and Emma Kardanova, Permanent Representative of Karachaevo-Cherkessia in Moscow, are among the registered candidates.

Elections of the city mayor are scheduled for 12 March this year. Around 85 thousand of the voters are expected to take part in the elections. In the meantime, trial concerning the legitimacy of the date set for the mayor elections is going on in Cherkessk city court.
