INGUSHETIA, November 21, Caucasus Times – A suspect linked with abduction of Vincente Coshtelle (France), the director of the department of the UN Commissar on the refugees on the North Caucasus was reportedly detained in Ingushetia, the INTERFAX news agency reports citing a source in the law-enforcement agencies of North Ossetia.
The member of a criminal group that abducted the UN official, was detained in Karabulak on Thursday as a result of a joint operation of the local police, Ossetia’s counter-criminal police department and the Russian Interior Ministry task police forces.
Resident of Galashky village Ahmed Yevloyev, 40, allegedly abducted the foreign citizen, and besides, ordered by Ruslan Khaikharoyev, a Chechen field commander kept the hostage in Bamut of Chechnya, the Interior Ministry said. At the moment, the suspect is being interrogated by the police.
To remind, the UN refugee department official was abducted on January 29, 1998 in Vladikavkaz (North Ossetia) and eventually, was released by task police in a special operation.
