Two 50-year-old locals detained in Nazran allegedly linked to terrorists

INGUSHETIA, September 28, Caucasus Times – Two local men who allegedly aided the Chechen terrorists were detained in Nazran, Ingushetia by the regional FSB agents and police officers in a special operation, Ingushetia’s Interior Ministry said Tuesday in an interview with Caucasus Times correspondent.

“The special operation on detention of the alleged militants in a private house was conducted by law enforcement bodies of the republic together with regional Federal Security Service in Ingushetia,” CT corresponded quoted a a source in Interior Ministry as saying. “the two men are suspected of aiding a militant group operating on the territory of Chechnya. The police frisked the suspects, searched the house and found two pistols and Kalashnivkov assault rifle with a silencer,” said the officer on condition of anonymity.

“For now the suspects taken into custody are being interrogated to establish their complicity in the terrorists raid in Ingushetia staged on June 22 crime,” the officer said but declined to give names of the arrested. He just added the both were 50-year-old locals of Nazran.

The Prosecutor’s Office instituted a criminal case the investigation is under way.
