Russian Ministry for Extraordinary Situation reported mass poultry plague in eight regions of South Federal District
MOSCOW, 9 March, Caucasus Times. Press service of the Russian Ministry for Extraordinary Situations reported that starting from 3 March, mass poultry deaths were registered in eight regions of the Russian South Federal District.
According to the press service of the Ministry for Extraordinary Situations, in cases of Dagestan, Kalmykia, Adygea, Stavropol Region and Astrakhan Oblast, diagnosis was defined as “bird flu type H5N1”. In Chechnya and Kabardino-Balkaria several cases of bird deaths have been registered with the diagnosis “bird flu type H5N1”.
In total, 922 thousand poultry have already been liquidated. Cases of illnesses among the population have not been reported. 610 members of sanitary services and 130 units of a special equipment are being used for taking necessary sanitary measures.
