Rebel suspect detained in Russia’s Dagestan

DAGESTAN, 9 January, Caucasus Times: A resident of the village of Urkarakh in Dagestan’s Dakhadayevskiy District was detained in the village of Manaskent in Karabudakhkentskiy District on Monday [8 January] evening, the republic’s law-enforcement agencies have told the Caucasus Times.

The detainee underwent military training at a rebel camp in the Chechen Republic in 1998-99, the law-enforcement agencies said.

Four Makarov pistols and ten 9-mm cartridges were seized from the detained man. Criminal proceedings have been instituted under Article 222 of the Russian Criminal Code.
