Policeman wounded in blast in Russia’s Kabarda-Balkaria

Kabarda-Balkaria, 9 July, Caucasus Times: A member of the Kabarda-Balkar directorate for fighting organized crime has been wounded in a terrorist attack in the town of Tyrnyauz, Kabarda Balkaria.

The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday [8 July], the KBR [Kabarda-Balkar Republic] Interior Ministry press service has told the Caucasus Times. An unidentified law-yield device, which had been supposedly planted underneath a Zhiguli car driven by a senior operations officer, went off on a road near Saklya cafe. As a result of the blast, the member of the KBR directorate for fighting organized crime received splinter wounds into his legs. Doctors of the Elbrus district hospital said that the policeman’s life was not in danger.

The KBR prosecutor’s office has instigated a criminal case; the operations agencies of the KBR Interior Ministry and of the Federal Security Service directorate in the KBR are working on several theories of the incident.
