Police injured in combat with insurgents
INGUSHETIA, November 5, Caucasus Times, – Four policemen were injured yesterday night while conducting an operation to arrest militants hiding out in Ordzhonikidzevskaya village of Sunzhensky district of Ingushetia, the regional Interior Miistry said in an interview with Caucasus Times correspondent.
“Yesterday night the police arrived in Ordzhonikidzevskaya after they had obtained an information on two militant hiding out in a house in the village. The suspects offered armed resistance and managed to escape the scene,” a police officer was quoted as saying. As a result of the short-scale combat four Russian special task police have been injured, said the Interior Ministry. Police Lt.Cmdrs. Kiselyev and Igor Tareev, Lt. Alexandr Sukhorukov and Sgt. Victor Baulin were taken to Vladikavkaz hospital all reportedly with gunshot wounds in legs.
The militants have been identified, according to Interior Ministry, as Ruslan and Halit Merzhoyevs, both the natives of Ordzhonikidzevskaya. At the moment law enforcement agencies are tracking down the criminals, having detained a 53-year-old owner of the house along with two underage sons. The detainees are being examined at the regional FSB office.
