Local journalists gather to honor the memory of their colleagues killed in the Caucasus
KABARDINO-BALKARIYA, September 9, Caucasus Times – Journalists of “Kabardinskaya Pravda” (Kabardian Truth) newspaper organized a meeting in Terskol, Elbrussky district in Kabardino-Balkariya at the monument to honor journalists who died in the first war campaign in Chechnya, Caucasus Times correspondent reports citing the newspaper office.
The republic’s journalists and students of local school rallied at the memorial. Speaking at the meeting Irina Sanova, the chief editor reminded twenty names of foreign and Russian journalists and several others carved into the monument. She expects the death toll among journalist most likely will rise as the loss of the journalists became very common.
The participants paused for a moment to honor victims of the late terror attack as well as Fatima Alikova, a local journalist who died in the storm of the Beslan school. The journalists accepted a resolution to be published in tomorrow’s issue of Kabardinskaya Pravda.
