Conference to be held in Ingushetia to focus on problems of internally displaced persons from Chechnya

INGUSHETIA, March 18, Caucasus Times – A conference organized by the Committee For Refugees in Ingushetia is to be held this afternoon in the town of Karabulack to discuss human rights violations of internally displaced people from the Chechen republic.

The committee activists said the observers from International humanitarian organizations, including the UNHCR and Danish Council for Refugees and Ingushetia’s Migration Service are expected at the conference. “The people have a lot of problems, such as registration procedures and disbursement of the humanitarian help. Hopefully, the forum will help to reach an agreement between the local authorities and international organizations to coordinate joint efforts,” Caucasus Times correspondent quoted the Committee’s leader Aslanbek Apayev as saying.

As of now, there are over forty thousand of internally displaced people from Chechnya in Ingushetia, the Migration Service officials said. All of them are presently living in private houses.
