INGUSHETIA, August 24, Caucasus Times – Internally displaced persons from Chechnya, temporarily living in Ingushetia, will have an opportunity to take part in the coming vote in Chechnya, the office of Chechen republic said in interview with Caucasus Times correspondent, August 24.
The Chechen eligible voters living in Ingushetia will be transported to the polls in Chechnya on August 29 to take part in the presidential election, said the Chechen representatives to Ingushetia who were charged to make all arrangements to fulfill the task. The Chechen government will cover the transport expenses, the Chechen official said.
“The authorities of Chechnya stated that all Chechen eligible voters have the right to participate in the vote, August 29. To make the process more convenient for the voters several vehicles will be available in Ingushetia villages where the refugees live,” said the Chechen office in Ingushetia.
As of now, there are roughly 32-48 thousand Chechen refugees in Ingushetia. 1500 of them are eligible voters, the Chechen Electoral commission said.
