17 persons suffered as a result of unrest in a Dagestani village

DAGESTAN, 20 March, Caucasus Times. 17 persons suffered as a result of unrest in a Dagestani village of Korkmaskala, sparked by a dispute between two local residents over the ownership of the plots of land.

Doctor of a local hospital Arslan Abakarov told that two persons with gunshot wounds had been delivered to a local hospital. A number of people were injured during the unrest.

At present around 400 local residents gathered in front of the building of the local administration. Around 14:30 Moscow time Interior Minister of Dagestan Adulgerei Magomedtagirov and First Deputy of Interior Ministry Office in South Federal District Sergei Solodovnikov tried to persuade the crowd to dissolve, but the people refused.

More than one hundred members of the law enforcement agencies are currently on the square. According to the representatives of the law enforcement agencies, around 9 AM Moscow time several hundreds residents of the village of Korkmaskala gathered on the square and requested from the head of the local administration to give them plots of lands of the former collective farm. In their turn, several hundreds of the residents of the village of Tarki in Sovetsky district of Makhachkala came to the same place to support the head of the local administration who is a native of their village.
